Lisa Koenigsberg, Ph.D.Director of Programs in the Arts and adjunct professor of arts at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Koenigsberg has organized and chaired numerous major conferences in the arts, among them "Plein Air, Before, and Beyond: A Century of California Art A Conference in Los Angeles and Pasadena" (2001) and "From Sea to Shining Sea: Regions, Regionalism and Nationalism in American Painting," (2000), both of which placed considerable emphasis on California plein air painting. Jean SternDirector, The Irvine Museum. Stern is a recognized authority in the field of California Impressionism, and through his leadership, the Irvine Museum has produced several traveling exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. These include: "Selections from the Irvine Museum" (1993), "Reflections of California" (1994), "Palette of Light" (1995), "Guy Rose American Impressionist" (1995-96 along with the Oakland Museum of California), "California Impressionists" (1995-96, along with the Georgia Museum), and "All Things Bright and Beautiful" (1998). Stern has also authored numerous books and publications on California Impressionism, contributed to catalogues, lectured, and written essays on the topic of plein air painting. |

Jack StuppinPlein air artist. Stuppin is one of the leading plein air painters in the San Francisco area, and his work has been shown and is widely collected in many private and institutional collections throughout the U.S. He has organized two contemporary plein air art events: In 1994, four artists painted on the remote and wild Farollone Islands, 27 miles off the coast of San Francisco and displayed their work at the California Academy of Sciences. In 1992, he organized a cross-country tour of four artists retracing the route of 19th century landscape painters and the resulting work was shown at the Century Association in New York City. |
